Do the impending holidays make you feel like a Grinch or give your kids a case of the Gimmies? Consider turning it into a season of thanks. Each day, have your kids write down something they're thankful for. You could also have them do this each time they say "I want" or "can I have" - or each time they fight or say something mean. Any of these are ways to retrain negative, selfish behaviors into a more positive habit.
